Well, I have been going to the gym for years and using equipment it was all fine but people do get bored after a while, and I really needed to make a change because I was putting my work before everything else, my family before everything else (fitness) and other things that needed doing. Just the discipline of trying to get out to the gym was really difficult for me. Someone I know had been to a personal trainer, so I thought I’d give it a go and was recommended the Fitness First down at Clapham Junction. So I popped in and met Paul Chipp and been working with him now for 3 or 4 months.

I just find the discipline works for me. Having set up a meeting with somebody means I actually have to turn up, I can’t get out of it.

It has made a difference, I feel a lot more supple, I am better at yoga, I do not have the aches and pains in my knees and joints that I was beginning to get at my age. And it has been fun.

Paul is really keen on making sure that the equipment we use and the toys we use in the gym do more than one thing at a time. So I know that I am making sure that I am doing more than one thing in each exercise. Which is different to going to a gym on your own. You can use the equipment, there’s plenty of good equipment out there but you’d usually be using one or two muscles at a time.

Whereas this is actually using everything all in one go. Its tough yes, but its not making me puffed out. I didn’t want to get puffed out and too tired to carry on. I am still going at 40 mins-1hr after arriving so it makes me hot but not puffed out. And I feel that I can do it.

My work life is quite busy I run my own business so making time for the gym is so much easier when you’ve got an appointment set up.

I do feel as though I have lost a bit of weight, I a lot stronger, my muscles are beginning to develop a little bit, not too much. I have just enjoyed the fun of doing it, really.
